KEVIN SKINNER, 1956

Thursday, March 14, 2024

Kevin Skinner came out of retirement in 1956 to tame the physical South African forwards, being recalled for the third test at Lancaster Park with the series even at 1-1. The All Blacks went on to win the series 3-1. Skinner later admitted that he had been picked to 'intimidate' the opposition, but he was so concerned about the media reporting his rough play that he wrote to the newspaper to mitigate the exaggerated stories.
